Handling Your Hot Sauce Products
Have you been manually filling your containers with your hot sauce? If so, weโre betting that after a while, it can be really tough work, right? You have to repeatedly squeeze, crank, or dip to get your product into the bottle(s).
Maybe you sometimes spill a bit of product on the floor, or on yourself. Youโre also wondering whether your process is completely sanitary.
After all, you donโt want any contaminants getting into your different types of sauce and potentially making your customers sick.
So if youโre looking for the optimal machine for your various sauces, youโve come to the right place. Accutek Packaging builds and customizes a wide variety of filling machines that can handle all kinds of hot sauces.
Hot Sauce Filling Machine Considerations
While hot sauce can come in all different kinds of flavors, colors, and even degrees of hotness (otherwise known as Scoville units, or SHUs), thereโs one deciding factor thatโs going to dictate what machine you use.
Thatโs right: the thickness, otherwise known as the viscosity. Is your hot sauce water-thin? Does it have the thickness of molasses? Does it contain particulates or chunks?
Thicker hot sauces need more robust machinery to push them through nozzles and into containers without spilling or backing up.
Letโs take a look at some of these liquid fillers and why theyโre optimal for the hot sauce filling process.
Gravity Fillers

A gravity filler works by positioning a tank containing the product above the filling nozzles. Liquid flows downward into the containers until they reach a set level or volume. Which is why theyโre called gravity fillers; gravity is doing most of the work.
Gravity fillers are better for thinner hot sauces because the thicker or chunkier ones will clog up the nozzles or create inconsistent fill levels. If you want a quick crash course in both gravity and piston fillers, we have an entire article comparing them here.
For those thicker sauces, youโll want to look into a piston filler.
Piston Fillers

Piston fillers are liquid filling machines that use piston motors to extract product from a holding tank. The product is then pushed into containers with controlled force. The pistonโs stroke length (essentially, how far it retracts) determines the fill volume.
Piston fillers are perfect for medium- to high-viscosity products, along with products containing. Since they use mechanical pressure instead of gravity, piston fillers can handle thicker or chunkier products with more particulates that would otherwise stall in a gravity filler.
Our volumetric piston fillers are especially accurate and well-suited to handling hot sauces with higher viscosities. We have both automatic and semi-automatic variants of piston fillers.
Automatic Piston Fillers
Our automatic piston filler line, the AVF, can be equipped with 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, or 12 nozzles. The AVF dispenses an accurately measured volume of product to containers, reducing overfill and saving you money on both labor and spills.
Itโs versatile enough to fill thin products such as water or thick products like caulking compounds with little to no additional change parts.
The AVF comes in two variants: a pneumatic version and one using servo motors to power the pistons. The servo variant, while complex, can provide smoother filling and may be easier to adjust, as it uses the touchscreen for most adjustments.
The AVFs can handle liquids with viscosities ranging from 1 to 20,000 centipoise (cP). Depending on the number of nozzles, they can handle up to 120 containers per minute (CPM).
Semi-Automatic Piston Fillers
Our Semi-Automatic Volumetric Fillers (SVF) are piston-based filling machines that accurately deliver a measured volume of product to each container. Their accuracy ensures bottom-line savings by reducing the amount of product used as overfill.
What separates the SVF from the AVF is that the SVF is meant to be a more standalone machine. Also, the SVF is usually only equipped with a single nozzle and is activated by pressing a foot pedal.
However, like the AVF, it can be equipped with a touchscreen for greater customizability and control.
The SVF can fill products with viscosities ranging from 1 to 20,000 cP, and has a production rate of up to 30 CPM.
Overflow Fillers

Rotary overflow fillers are large machines that allow for continuous, fast, and accurate filling of free-flowing liquids. Theyโre designed to fill each container to the same visible level, even when a bottleโs internal volume varies slightly.
That makes them especially valuable when product presentation matters as much as fill consistency.
ROF
Accutekโs ROF machines are perfect for filling a large number of bottles with hot sauce in a short amount of time.
Parts can be changed out to accommodate bottles of different sizes, making them versatile machines.
The ROF series can produce visually appealing and consistent fill levels, regardless of a container’s shape. It can also accommodate plastic, metal, and glass containers, whether they weigh ounces or gallons.
The ROF can also handle up to 20,000 cP and, depending on its production configuration, can process up to 600 CPM.
Positive Displacement Fillers

Positive displacement fillers get their name from the positive displacement pumps they use. The name comes from the fact that all pumping action moves forward, meaning “positive.”
Liquids canโt enter the pump itself and potentially damage its components.
This allows Accutekโs displacement fillers to handle liquids with both high and low viscosities.
SAPD-1
The SAPD-1 is a semi-automatic, single-head filling system designed to handle all types of rigid plastic, metal, and glass containers. Itโs also designed for higher-viscosity products and precision fills.
The system is versatile enough to handle various container sizes, fill volumes, and product types, making it perfect for almost any application.
The SAPD-1 can process hot sauce up to 18,000 cP and has a production rate of about 30 CPM.
SAPD-2
The SAPD-2 operates nearly identically to the SAPD-1, but it includes an additional fill head for increased filling capacity. Each fill head can be programmed to initiate filling gradually, ramp up to full speed, then slow to complete the fill.
Post-filling, the pump filler can reverse to prevent dripping as it withdraws excess product from the nozzle, readying it for the next fill.
The SAPD-1 can process hot sauce up to 18,000 cP and has a production rate of about 40 CPM.
Timed Flow Fillers

Timed-flow volumetric fillers dispense controlled volumes of product based on calibrated flow time. These systems are especially suited for low- to medium-viscosity hot sauces.
Timed flow fillers are highly accurate, sanitary, adaptable for molten products, and suitable for light foamy liquids.
Timed flow volumetric fillers can:
- Deliver repeatable fill volumes
- Support the sanitary handling of liquids
- Run efficiently at higher line speeds
- Accommodate multiple container sizes
- Reduce product waste from overfill or underfill
Because these machines rely on controlled timing rather than piston displacement, theyโre especially valuable for filling hot sauce when you need liquid consistency, cleanability, and speed.
Mini Pinch
Accutek offers a variety of mini-pinch machines. By and large, they are best suited for filling aqueous solutions and thin, light oils, making them a good fit for low-viscosity hot sauces.
Standard Mini Pinch
The standard mini pinch is a six-head, timed-flow volumetric filler with a fill rate of up to six ounces per second. It also features a simple button-based interface for easy operation.
It can accurately fill .34 oz (10 mL) bottles, and an experienced operator can fill up to 2,500 bottles per hour (about 42 CPM).
The Pinch-25 and Pinch-50 machines operate similarly, but can handle much larger bottles. These machines can handle between 40 and 60 CPM, with bottle sizes ranging from 0.5 to 128 ounces.
Auto-Indexing Mini Pinch
The Auto-Indexing Mini Pinch works almost the same as the standard variant. However, it uses a PLC touchscreen to operate it, and it includes a job memory function.
This allows you to preserve settings for specific fill runs to use them again for subsequent hot sauce filling operations.
This machine also works with liquids up to 1000 cP, fills up to 6 ounces per second, and can accommodate containers between .17 and 16 ounces.
Automatic Mini Pinch
The automatic mini pinch is a conveyor-equipped variant of the mini pinch, designed for integration into an entire production line. It can fill containers with water-thin liquids, light oils, and creams at up to 100 containers per minute, at sizes between .5 and 8 ounces.
This filling machine was designed with minimal, easy-to-clean contact parts, making it perfect for sanitary filling of hot sauces.
